One of the most powerful ways to protect our planet is through education
Earth’s ecosystems have become fragile mostly due to man’s destruction: development, pollution, overpopulation, irresponsible waste management, hazardous material accidents and ignorance. We urge parents and educators alike to teach youth about wildlife conservation so they will grown up with an understanding of the world around them, respect for nature and ways to preserve species and their habitats.
Multitalented educator Megan Giampietro of the William H. Loesche Elementary School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, approached us with the curriculum idea after a visit here in 2017. She has developed fun and engaging lesson plans that are focused on sloths and rainforest biodiversity. Also supporting the project is Susie Rodenkirchen Walker of the National Aquarium (USA), a career proponent of marine life conservation, developer of dolphin-centric curricula and longtime champion of the Sloth Sanctuary.
Education has been at the core of our mission since the beginning. After all, sloths wouldn’t need rescuing and rehabilitation if their habitat weren’t being disturbed by human activity. We aim to empower your students with these fun, informative and educational tools.
